Skyline Elite U17 Girls Threepeat in State Cup
The Skyline Elite U17 Girls won an unprecedented third straight VYSA State Cup championship on November 21, with a 3-1 win over Crush at the VYSA’s Virginia Soccer Training Center.
The newly formed Skyline Elite Soccer Club, the elite level affiliate of SOCA, has enjoyed a successful inaugural campaign, even in the face of a global health crisis. Both the U17 Boys and U17 Girls from the nascent organization won State Cup titles, being the 13th and 14th state championship in the SOCA family.
Coach Jason Moore led the squad to back-to-back titles, while SOCA Director of Coaching Jimmy Tharpe started the run of success with the team in their U15 year.
In addition to the two titles this year, Skyline Elite placed three other squads in the Cup final (U15 Boys, U16 Girls and U19 Girls) making the club Virginia’s most represented in the final season Cup final matches.
The consistent success is a testament to the breadth of talent attracted to the club, the quality of the committed coaching staff, and the capable organizational leadership.
State Cup play will resume in the spring in the U12-U14 age groups.
