Skyline Elite Identification Process | Tryouts

All Skyline Elite Identification Days are free of charge to participants.

One Skyline Elite team will be formed in each age group U13 through U18/19, boys and girls.

All participation in the U14-U19 Skyline Elite Identification Days is by invitation only, all interested parties must register and in our Candidate Identification Form before invitation.

Player performance in matches, training, and off-field team events is constantly observed and monitored.  Performance in Identification Days is a part of the evaluation and selection process.  Players within the Virginia Soccer Alliance may be offered additional opportunities to be evaluated and train with Skyline Elite teams throughout the year.  Coaching staffs for all of these clubs are tasked with seeking to identify high achieving players who may may excel and benefit from participation with the Skyline Elite Soccer Club.  Interested players from affiliated clubs should work with local coaching staffs within their clubs in pursuing Skyline Elite placement.

 

Players from outside of the Skyline Elite affiliated clubs should submit a Candidate Identification Form in order to be considered for invitation.  References from other clubs and coaches within the greater Skyline region are encouraged and help staff identify possible candidates.  Skyline Elite seeks to be an option for all high achieving and motivated players within Central and Southwestern Virginia.

U13 is the entry level age group for Skyline Elite.  Therefor U13 Skyline Elite Identification Days are an open tryout.  All serious, capable, age-appropriate candidates are welcome to attend.  All U13 candidates must complete and submit a Candidate Identification Form .

Skyline Elite evaluations often take place over multiple days and throughout the year.  Players are strongly encouraged to attend whenever invited.

Player evaluations are done by Skyline Elite technical staff members and team coaches. During the tryout process, candidates will be assessed by multiple evaluators assuring a diversified and unbiased evaluation.

  • Tryout Registration

    Players who wish to be considered for Skyine Elite placement must fill out and submit the online ID form to notify the Skyline Elite staff of their interest.

    Candidate Identification Form

    There is no pre-registration through a player’s online account.  Players must be invited or receive permission to attend the tryout.

     

  • Travel Age Group Rules

    Important: All candidates are asked to tryout in their appropriate birth year age-group. Please double-check your birth year age group in the chart below.

    No players may play up into the U13 age group.  At U13 and older the Director of Coaching, in collaboration with the coaching staff, will determine if an individual player is qualified to tryout in an older age group.  Final team placement and selection is determined by the Director of Coaching.

  • Goalkeeper Tryouts

    Players interested in being selected as a goalkeeper will be evaluated in that position.  Players who tryout as a goalkeeper specifically, will be expected to participate in that role if selected as a goalkeeper.  Goalkeeper evaluations will be conducted during the tryout times assigned for each age group.

    Skyline Elite goalkeeping training staff and team coaches will provide evaluations.  Goalkeeper candidates will be evaluated separately in a goalkeeping specific environment as well as in the live action game setting.

  • Tryout Announcements

    Tryout results announcements will be communicated by the Technical Staff shortly after the completion of the identification process.  Players selected to Skyline Elite teams will be provided the ability to register for their team through their personal, online, Skyline Elite account.

     

  • Accepting a Roster Position

    Players selected to a team must register for that program in order to accept their position.  Registration and payment must be completed  through your online account to secure your position on the team. Players who do not register for their selected team by the registration deadline risk forfeiting their position on the team.

    Players seeking financial assistance need to contact the administrative office, establish a plan and make an initial payment by the registration deadline to be considered registered in good standing for the fall season.

  • Reschedules

    In case of inclement weather please check the Skyline Elite website for cancellation and reschedule information.

    Tryouts will be rescheduled on a case by case basis to new available dates. Adjusted tryout schedules will be posted online as soon as possible.
